I Love Marriott
This past weekend I went on my first “press trip” for travel media influencers. That means a tourism board and in this case a hotel also hosted me in order to share the highlights of their region. There is a certain quid pro quo agreed upon by both parties. I admit trepidation about entering this world, both fears of my blog not being qualified and fears of the experiences not being qualified for my blog. However, when the invitation arrived and I saw that the Courtyard Marriott of Minneapolis/Roseville was the hosted lodging, I jumped at the opportunity. I am so glad that I did because the Roseville Visitors Association put together an amazing weekend of highlights and experiences. The added bonus was that I already have a love affair with Marriott. The Courtyard in Roseville is a perfect example of why I love Marriott.
The Roseville Visitors Association claims “Perfect Positioning” for exploring the Minneapolis/St. Paul region. Their claim is correct, we were able to explore all over both cities.
Wherever we travel we first look for a Marriott. Because of their vast array of styles and locations Marriott always provides a conveniently located facility for our travels. In this case, the Courtyard of Minneapolis/Roseville couldn’t have been more perfect. It sits less than a mile from the I-35W freeway which will zip you into downtown Minneapolis or downtown St. Paul in a convenient 20 minutes.
I traveled from the new Vikings US Bank Stadium in downtown Minneapolis to the hotel during rush hour traffic. With a pleasant surprise I arrived in under 30 minutes.
We easily hopped to the Como Zoo, the Walker Art Center, the Minnesota Science Museum, several breweries, eateries and innumerable great activities from the Courtyard by Marriott at Minneapolis/Roseville.
The hotspot for this trip, the Minnesota State Fair, was a quick 15 minute jaunt south. The Courtyard provided a free shuttle to the nearest State Fair Park-and-Ride which was just a quarter mile from the hotel. The driver was congenial and cheerful. The shuttle also operates M-F anywhere within 5 miles of the hotel.
Perfectly Consistent Quality
Years ago, actually decades ago we were a young family struggling to travel. I had experienced a traveling childhood and my husband had come from an anti-traveling family. You can imagine the conflicts that ensued. In 1995 we started to form a our own family traveling philosophy. I came to realize that a major factor for anti-travelers is the cost of lodging and the inconsistency of what you were paying for. We stumbled onto the solution with Marriott and it is why I love Marriott. Unexpectedly, we decided to purchase a Marriott timeshare at The Grand Vista in Orlando, Florida. What we found with Marriott that transformed our traveling life was consistency. My travel-hesitant husband finally found excellent quality at every facility, whether a Marriott Vacation Club Resort, a JW Marriott Luxury Hotel or a Courtyard by Marriott.
Courtyard by Marriott Minneapolis/Roseville
So as I entered the Courtyard at Minneapolis/Roseville I was confident of the quality I would encounter. That is why I love Marriott. The rooms always well-appointed, clean and well-maintained serve the needs of family and business travelers alike.
This facility had been recently renovated. Many of the recent updates for Courtyards have been in their public spaces. They offer comfortable lounging and gathering spaces.
Food and drink is available in an inviting bistro-style setting. The Bistro offers grab ‘n go snacks or sit-down meals. I especially enjoyed that they offered local craft beer on tap. Each night as I returned to my room the common areas were full of groups playing games, watching TV, drinking and relaxing together.
The staff stood ready to serve in any way necessary. They were friendly, helpful and professional (as always at a Marriott). Gina, the Sales Director, greeted our group the first night and thereafter, every staff member I met was eager to show off the quality of their Courtyard.
The Total Marriott Experience
We have been Marriott owners and rewards members for years. The reward points allow us to choose the location and price range that suits our needs. The reasons to love Marriott have recently increased. Marriott now includes a remarkable grouping of partners in the lodging industry. The graphic below shows logos of the 30 brands under the Marriott umbrella.
This is an impressive and comprehensive group that I will continue to visit and love across the world.
Be sure to check into the Courtyard Marriott Minneapolis/Roseville when visiting the Twin Cities next time. You will start to understand my Marriott love.
